It stands to reason that if Blackjack can have different variations of the game itself, that versions of the game will invariably produce offerings with different rules depending upon the country of origin. That’s where Blackjack UK comes in.

There are versions of Blackjack from Europe, America and other areas, all of which include twists on standard rules, and some even introduce their own rules specific to that version. Blackjack UK is no exception to that.

Blackjack UK Rules and How to Play

The standard blackjack rules require your cards to be closer to 21 than the dealer’s, without going exceeding that number. This remains the same in Blackjack UK. Other standard Blackjack UK rules are as follows;

  • The player may split up to four hands
  • Only one card is drawn to split Aces
  • The player may not split pairs of 4s, 5s or 10s, including face cards
  • The player may double after splitting
  • The player may double only if his hand total is 9, 10 or 11
  • The player can only buy insurance if he has Blackjack.

If both you and the dealer end up with the same card total of 17 or more, neither of you win and your bet is returned to you. If you are dealt an Ace and a ten-value card as your first two cards, you have Blackjack and win 1.5 times your wagered amount.

Difference Between UK and European Blackjack

While there are some similarities between both European and UK versions of Blackjack, the differences lay in the area of splitting. In UK Blackjack, as mentioned above, the player cannot split pairs of 4s, 5s or 10s, including face cards. When it comes to European Blackjack, this is not a standard rule. However, both UK and European versions dictate that the dealer is only dealt one card at the beginning, which is presented face up.

Where to Play Blackjack UK Online

Playtech has crafted a version of Blackjack UK for gamers to play online, which is available on various different casino platforms. The game offers you the chance to place bets on up to five different hands at once, and chips can be wagered between £1, up to £1,000, with an overall maximum wager per round of £10,000. In case you have the pretence of what colour your table is, you can switch it between various different shades, while you’ll have some interesting elevator music accompanying your gameplay. Graphically speaking, it’s as good as any other card game available online and is exceptionally easy to bet, split, double, hit and stand.

We have two great Playtech powered casinos that we recommend you check out if you want to play Blackjack UK online – William Hill Casino & Bet365 Casino.

In Summary

Blackjack UK doesn't stray too far from the basic blackjack game rules, so really, you could safely play this one without having to alter your perception of how to play blackjack too much. The ability to double can sometimes cause a little confusion considering it can only be done on cards totalling 9, 10 or 11, but it's nothing that can't be warmed to.

If you enjoy playing blackjack, and enjoy variations on the standard version, UK Blackjack is definitely recommended. Its rules aren't so different to European Blackjack either, so if you play this already and want a very slight change, UK Blackjack is the direction to go in.
