ONE Blackjack

ONE Blackjack is alive dealer blackjack game released by Pragmatic Play in 2021. Live table blackjack is slowly but surely becoming the dominant force in the world of online blackjack. With that in mind, the competition is fierce and software providers constantly have to come up with new ideas. With this release, Pragmatic Play put a new spin on the idea of Common Draw Blackjack.

That said, true live blackjack veterans will know most of these mechanics aren’t particularly original. For instance, the physical cards the dealer draws are hidden from view, much like in Playtech’s Quantum Blackjack. Instead, the cards you should be paying attention to are visible on your UI. That’s because not all of the cards are relevant to all players. Like in most similar blackjack variants, all players share the cards but can make independent decisions. If you understand other Common Draw variants you’ll know what we’re talking about. If not, we’ll explain how ONE Blackjack works.

Game Rules and Features

Pragmatic Play ONE Blackjack uses 8 standard decks of playing cards and standard Vegas Strip rules.

As always, the dealer will draw two player cards and two dealer cards. The dealer cards are left on the table with one face-up, as is usual. However, the player cards are placed in a container in the middle of the table. You won’t see the actual cards, but they’ll appear on the visual interface. All players share the same hand, so this initial draw is always the same.

After this point, however, all players are free to make independent decisions regardless of what others are doing. If you decide to stand, the round is over for you until the dealer finishes their hand and begins again. If not, the dealer will continue to draw cards. Generally, more cards are drawn until the players’ hand gets to 21 or over.

However, the ONE Blackjack side bets spice up the gameplay substantially. Perfect Pairs and 21+3 are common side bets and don’t require much explaining. The Bust Bonus wins if the dealer busts by going over 21. The payouts here depend on how many cards the dealer's hand receives before busting – the more, the better. Lastly, Crazy 7 is all about drawing a 7 with the initial draw. You receive a vastly increased payout if the initial draw includes two or three 7s.

Additionally, the ONE Blackjack game features 6-Card Charlie. Essentially, if you draw 6 cards and don’t bust, you win the round automatically.

Payouts and RTP

Since the rules are fairly standard fare, so are the payouts – 3:2 on Blackjack and 2:1 on Insurance. This also applies to the Perfect Pairs and 21+3 Side bets.

Perfect Pairs pays 6:1 for Mixed Pair, 12:1 for a Colored Pair, and 25:a for a Perfect Pair.

21+3 Payouts in ONE Blackjack range from 5:1 to 100:1, depending on the strength of your hand.

The Bust Bonus side bet in blackjack pays out according to how many cards the dealer draws before busting. You’ll receive 1:1 odds for a 3-card bust, ranging up to a whopping 200:1 for 8 cards.

Lastly, Crazy 7 depends on the total number of 7s on the table after the initial draw and whether they are of the same suit or not. A single 7 card will net you 5:1, and unsuited pair wins 25:1, while a suited pair wins 150:1. Unsuited and suited triples win 500:1 and 2,000:1, respectively.

ONE Blackjack RTP sits at 99.28% for the base game. The Bust Bonus boasts an RTP of 93.79%, while Crazy 7 presents a rather lukewarm 94.26%.

Recommended Tips

As far as the best ONE Blackjack strategy is concerned, the basic blackjack strategy chart is all you’ll really need. Underneath all the modern gimmicks and live technology, it’s still a fairly straightforward gameplay loop. After all, these machines were invented to allow for faster gameplay and lower betting limits. Since the ONE Blackjack minimum bet sits at $1, we’d say Pragmatic Play was successful.

As far as the side bets are concerned, we’re afraid they suffer from the same issues as in every other top blackjack game. The steep house edge simply means that they’re not worth it – especially not compared to the main game. Feel free to try them for the novelty, but blackjack side bets simply aren’t good for profits.

Summary

All in all, this is a fairly good new live blackjack game. The Common Draw blackjack rules mean that it can fit any budget, and the rules are reasonable enough. However, we can’t really say ONE Blackjack by Pragmatic Play offers anything we haven’t seen before. The only exception is the Crazy 7 side bet, which serious players will ignore anyway. However, the studio and the dealers are all quite good, so the game offers an excellent visual experience.
