European Blackjack

As far as popularity is concerned, European Blackjack does not fall far behind American or any other of its variants. With a few minor differences in rules, such as lack of Surrender move and restricted Double Down option, European version preserves the essential structure. If you have not had the opportunity to try your luck European style, Microgaming has released their own edition, available for fun as well as for the real money play.

Game Rules & Features

European Blackjack is played with the main objective of beating the dealer's hand without busting.
Natural Blackjack (Ace in combination with a face card) will always beat 21; when both the dealer and the player have Blackjacks, the round will result in a push, or a tie. Microgaming's release sticks to the general rules of the European variant and limits the Double Down move to 9, 10 and 11 value hands. Same cards can be split in two separate hands but the player is then not allowed to use the Double Down option. Surrendering is not permitted, but the player may insure against the chance of the dealer receiving a Blackjack hand. A 17 hand will require the dealer to stand.

Payouts & RTP

Payouts are standard – Microgaming offers 1:1 ratio for a standard hand, 2:1 for insurance and 3:2 for a Blackjack hand. For example, if you submit a $10 chip, your profit would be $10 for a regular hand, $20 for the insurance win and $15 for a Blackjack hand. The bet range is $1 to $1,000, with the house edge of 0.40% (99.60% return to player).

Recommended Tips

Players are enabled to customise their strategy through the Expert Mode or may simply use the default strategy. In general, the recommended moves are to always split the eights and Aces, get hit on small value hands or stand on 17. If, for example, the dealer's upcard is anywhere between 7 and 10, the player should draw until reaching 17. Smaller upcards, such as 4 to 6 will require a player to stand on 12, decreasing their chances of busting.

Microgaming European Blackjack Summary

A great way to get acquainted with European Style and improve your blackjack skills, especially through the Expert Mode. Even if you are just getting warmed up to this table game, you will without a doubt enjoy creating your own strategy patterns, or simply go with the flow and make decisions as the game progresses.
